Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Wijgmaal

The Drive from Brussels Airport to Wijgmaal

The journey covers 30 km (19 miles) and typically takes about 27 minutes. Wijgmaal lies east of the airport on the Leuven side, so the route is short and mostly uncomplicated. Allow extra time if you travel at weekday rush hour, when roads around Brussels and Leuven are busier, or in bad weather. Your driver tracks the traffic and picks the best route on the day.

Choosing the Right Vehicle

Couples, small families and solo travellers usually book the Private Taxi, available for 1-3 or 1-4 passengers. Larger parties with more luggage fit better in a Private Minibus with 8 or 16 seats. For groups, teams or events, minibuses with 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats keep everyone in one vehicle. Choose by passenger count and luggage, and pick the larger size if you are unsure.

Wijgmaal as a Destination

Wijgmaal is a quiet residential district of Leuven in Flemish Brabant, close to the Dijle river and the canal. It suits visitors who want a calmer base near the university city, with Leuven's historic centre only a short ride away. Give your driver the exact street address when booking so the drop-off is smooth.

Places to Stay Near Wijgmaal

Wijgmaal itself is small, so most visitors stay in neighbouring Leuven. Well-known options there include Martin's Klooster Hotel, set in a restored historic building, and the Leuven Marriott Hotel, close to the city centre. Both are a short drive from Wijgmaal.
