Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Tervuren

The drive from Brussels Airport to Tervuren

Tervuren lies 14 km (9 miles) from Brussels Zaventem Airport, and the drive usually takes about 15 minutes. It is a regularly booked route, popular with visitors heading for the museum district, with business travellers and with families going to the green suburbs east of Brussels. Traffic around the Brussels ring can slow things down at the morning and late-afternoon peaks, so build in a little extra time if you have a fixed appointment or a tight connection on the return leg.

Choosing the right vehicle

For solo travellers, couples and small families, a private taxi is the simplest option. It is available for 1-3 passengers or 1-4 passengers, so pick the larger one if you are travelling with four people and several suitcases. Larger parties can book a private minibus with 8 seats. For tour groups, school trips, wedding guests or company delegations, minibuses are also available with 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats. Everyone then arrives together, with no need to coordinate several cars.

About Tervuren

Tervuren is a municipality in Flemish Brabant, just east of Brussels. It is best known for the Royal Museum for Central Africa, usually called the Africa Museum, and for the large Tervuren Park beside it. The park and the nearby Sonian Forest make the area a popular choice for walks, cycling and a quiet stay close to the capital. The centre is calm and residential, which makes the airport transfer a short and easy start or end to a trip.
