Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Steenokkerzeel

Meeting Point

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House with a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find after you have collected your luggage, so there is no need to search the terminal.

The Drive to Steenokkerzeel

Steenokkerzeel lies just outside the airport grounds, and the trip covers 9 km (6 miles). In normal traffic the drive takes about 11 minutes. It is one of the shorter transfers from Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU), but it is booked less often than the big city routes, so it is arranged on request. During the morning and evening rush hours, the roads around the airport and the nearby ring road can slow down. If you have a tight appointment, add a little buffer to your plan.

Choosing the Right Vehicle

The vehicle size depends on your group and your luggage:

• Private Taxi (1-3 passengers) or (1-4 passengers): suitable for solo travellers, couples, families and small business trips.
• Private Minibus 8 Seats: a good choice for a larger family or a few colleagues with extra bags.
• Private Minibus 16, 24 and 32 Seats: for teams, school groups and event parties.
• Private Minibus 40 and 48 Seats: for large groups who want to arrive together in one vehicle.

Steenokkerzeel and Places to Stay

Steenokkerzeel is a municipality in Flemish Brabant, northeast of Brussels Airport. It is mostly residential, with green surroundings, and is a quiet place compared with the capital. Its closeness to the airport makes it practical for people who work nearby or visit family in the area.

I cannot name well-known hotels in Steenokkerzeel itself with confidence. The nearby town of Diegem, a short drive from the airport, has two established airport hotels:

• Crowne Plaza Brussels Airport
• Holiday Inn Brussels Airport

Both are used to guests arriving and leaving at all hours. Check your exact accommodation address before you book, so your driver can take you directly to the door.
