Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Ploegsteert

The drive from Brussels Airport to Ploegsteert

The journey covers 134 km (84 miles) and typically takes 1 h 35 m. You leave the Zaventem area, pass around Brussels and continue west towards the Hainaut countryside near the French border. The last stretch runs on smaller local roads, so the final minutes feel slower than the motorway part. Allow extra time if you travel during the morning or late-afternoon rush hour, when the Brussels ring road is often congested, or in poor weather.

Ploegsteert is not one of our most frequently booked destinations, but the transfer is available on request just like any other route. Your driver will know the way, so you do not need to navigate the rural roads yourself.

Choosing the right vehicle

The vehicle depends on your group size and luggage:

• Private Taxi (1-3 or 1-4 passengers): suits individual travellers, couples, small families or a few colleagues travelling together.
• Private Minibus 8 Seats: a good choice for a larger family or a small group with extra luggage.
• Private Minibus 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 Seats: intended for tour groups, school trips, remembrance delegations and other larger parties, with one vehicle for everyone.

Booking a single vehicle for the whole group means everyone arrives together, which is useful for a destination off the main rail network.

About Ploegsteert

Ploegsteert is a village in the municipality of Comines-Warneton in the province of Hainaut, close to the French border and not far from Ypres. It is a quiet rural place, best known for its First World War history. Ploegsteert Wood, which English-speaking soldiers called "Plugstreet", lies nearby, and the area is associated with the 1914 Christmas Truce. Many visitors come to see the memorials and cemeteries of the battlefields, so a private transfer that takes you straight to your door is a practical way to start the trip.

Meeting Point

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House in Brussels Zaventem Airport, holding a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find once you have collected your luggage, so you can meet your driver without any searching around the terminal.
