Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Nieuwpoort

The Drive to Nieuwpoort

The route covers 137 km (86 miles) and typically takes 1 h 24 m, leading west across Flanders towards the North Sea coast. Traffic around Brussels at rush hour can add time, and coastal roads tend to get busier on sunny summer weekends and public holidays. If you have a fixed check-in or reservation, build in a little extra margin.

Meeting Point

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House with a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find once you have collected your luggage, so you can head there straight away.

Choosing the Right Vehicle

Nieuwpoort is an occasionally booked route, but the fleet covers groups of every size. A private taxi takes 1-3 or 1-4 passengers, which suits couples, families and small business parties with normal luggage. For larger groups, private minibuses are available with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats, which works well for family gatherings, sailing crews, club outings and organised tours. If you travel with bulky items such as sports gear or several large cases, choose the next size up for comfort.

About Nieuwpoort

Nieuwpoort is a small seaside town on the Belgian coast, set at the mouth of the river IJzer. It is known for its large marina, its beach at Nieuwpoort-Bad and its role in the First World War, when the Battle of the Yser was fought in this area. The town makes a calm base for walks along the dunes, cycling and boating, and it is a useful stop on the way along the coast.

Where to Stay Nearby

For well-known hotels, the larger coastal town of Ostend is the reliable reference point for this stretch of coast. The Thermae Palace is a long-established seafront hotel, and the Hotel Andromeda is another familiar name on the Ostend promenade. Check the exact location of your own booking and give your driver the full address so the drop-off goes smoothly.
