Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Meppel

The drive from Brussels Airport to Meppel

Meppel lies 273 km (170 miles) from Brussels Zaventem Airport, and the drive normally takes around 2 h 58 m. The route crosses the border into the Netherlands and continues north-east towards the province of Drenthe, so it is a long transfer rather than a quick hop. This is a less frequently booked route, but it is available on request just like any other. Allow extra time if you travel during the morning or evening rush around Brussels and Antwerp, or when the weather is poor, as delays on the motorways can add to the total.

Choosing the right vehicle

For small groups, a private taxi is the simplest option: one version seats 1-3 passengers and another seats 1-4, which is useful if you have extra luggage. Larger parties can choose a private minibus with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats, each bookable for any number of passengers up to its capacity. Families, business teams and event groups heading to Meppel can therefore travel together in one vehicle instead of splitting up over a three-hour journey.

Meppel and where to stay

Meppel is a town in Drenthe in the north-east of the Netherlands, with a canal-side centre and a role as a regional railway junction. It is a calm destination and a convenient base for exploring the surrounding countryside. If you need a hotel, the nearest larger town with well-known, long-established options is Zwolle, a short drive from Meppel. Grand Hotel Wientjes and Van der Valk Hotel Zwolle are two familiar names there, and your driver can take you straight to either one on request.
