Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Ixelles

The drive from Zaventem to Ixelles

The route covers 15 km (9 miles) and typically takes around 22 minutes. You leave the airport area and drive towards the centre of Brussels, then continue to the southeast side of the city where Ixelles lies. Weekday morning and late afternoon traffic on the approach roads can slow things down, so it is sensible to allow extra time if you have a tight connection or a fixed appointment. This is a regularly booked route, and drivers know the Ixelles streets well, including the one-way sections and busy shopping areas.

Meeting point at the airport

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House holding a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find once you have collected your luggage, so you can simply walk over and meet them without searching the arrivals hall.

Choosing the right vehicle

Pick the vehicle by group size and luggage:

• Private Taxi (1-3 passengers) or Private Taxi (1-4 passengers): suited to solo travellers, couples, small families and business visitors.
• Private Minibus 8 Seats: a good option for a group of friends or a family with plenty of bags.
• Private Minibus 16 Seats and 24 Seats: for larger parties such as study groups, wedding guests or company teams.
• Private Minibus 32, 40 and 48 Seats: for conferences, school trips and big events, so everyone arrives together in one vehicle.

If you travel with bulky luggage, sports gear or a pushchair, choose the next size up for more space.

Ixelles as a destination

Ixelles is one of the 19 municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, known for its lively, mixed character. Many visitors head for the Flagey square and the Ponds of Ixelles, a favourite spot for a walk, or for the Matongé district, with its African shops and restaurants. The area also has plenty of cafés, independent boutiques and a long stretch of the upscale Avenue Louise nearby. The Solbosch campus of the Université Libre de Bruxelles is located here, so the area has a strong student presence. Streets can be narrow and parking is limited, so it helps to give your driver the exact street address and house number. That way you can be dropped off right at the door, even in a busy neighbourhood.
