Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to IJmuiden

Meeting Point

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House with a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find after you have collected your luggage, so you can meet up without searching the terminal.

The Drive from Brussels Airport to IJmuiden

The route covers 223 km (139 miles) and normally takes about 2 h 26 m. Most of the journey is on motorway, heading north across Belgium and into the Netherlands before reaching the North Sea coast. IJmuiden is a less frequently booked destination, but we arrange it on request just like any other route.

Allow extra time if you travel during the morning or evening rush hours. Traffic around the larger Dutch and Belgian cities can slow the trip down, and a fixed deadline such as a ferry check-in or a cruise boarding time calls for a generous buffer.

Which Vehicle Fits Your Group

The vehicle choice depends mainly on how many people and how much luggage you bring.

• Private Taxi (1-3 or 1-4 passengers): suits solo travellers, couples, and small families or groups.
• Private Minibus 8 Seats: a comfortable choice for larger families or friends travelling with extra bags.
• Private Minibus 16, 24, 32, 40 and 48 Seats: intended for tour parties, company groups, sports teams and event delegations.

For a transfer of well over two hours, it is worth choosing a vehicle with some spare space rather than filling every seat.

About IJmuiden

IJmuiden is a port town on the North Sea coast, at the mouth of the North Sea Canal that leads towards Amsterdam. It is known for its harbour, its locks, its beach and its ferry and cruise traffic. If you are heading for a ferry or a cruise ship, check your exact terminal or pier beforehand and tell us when you book, so the driver can take you to the right entrance.
