Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Houthulst

The drive from Brussels Airport to Houthulst

Houthulst lies 142 km (89 miles) from Brussels Zaventem Airport, and the typical driving time is 1 h 34 m. The route leads west across Flanders, so most of the journey is on motorway before you reach the quieter local roads of West Flanders. This is a less frequently booked route, but it is available on request like any other. Morning and late-afternoon traffic around Brussels can add time, so allow a little extra if you have a fixed appointment or a connection to catch at the other end.

Choosing the right vehicle

For solo travellers, couples and small families, a private taxi is the simplest option: one version seats 1-3 passengers and another seats 1-4. Larger parties can choose a private minibus with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats. That range covers anything from a family trip with plenty of luggage to a school group, a sports team or a tour party. Pick the size by the number of people in your group, and remember that suitcases take up space too.

About Houthulst

Houthulst is a rural municipality in West Flanders, a short distance from the town of Diksmuide and the Ypres area. It is best known for the Houthulst Forest and for its place in the First World War history of the region. The surrounding countryside is flat and green, and many visitors come to see the battlefields, memorials and cemeteries nearby. Expect a calm village setting rather than a busy town centre.
