About Heuvelland

Heuvelland is a rural municipality in West Flanders, right by the French border. Its name means "hill land", and it is one of the few parts of Flanders with real elevation. Villages such as Kemmel, Dranouter and Westouter sit among rolling farmland and wooded ridges, with Mount Kemmel as the best-known landmark. The area attracts walkers, cyclists and visitors interested in First World War history, with the town of Ypres close by.
