Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Helchteren

The drive from Brussels Airport to Helchteren

Helchteren lies 83 km (52 miles) from Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU), and the trip usually takes around 55 minutes by road. The route heads east out of the Brussels area towards the province of Limburg, so most of the journey is on motorway. Traffic around Brussels and Leuven can be heavy during the morning and evening rush hours, and bad weather can slow things down too. If you have a fixed appointment or a connection to make, build in some extra time. This route is booked less often than the busiest airport transfers, but it is available on request just like any other.

Which vehicle suits your group

For couples, small families or solo travellers, a private taxi is the simplest choice: one option seats up to 3 passengers and another up to 4, which helps if you are carrying more luggage. Larger parties can choose a private minibus with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats. This works well for family gatherings, sports teams, company groups or wedding guests who all need to arrive together. Pick the vehicle according to both passenger numbers and luggage, and choose the next size up if you are unsure.

About Helchteren

Helchteren is a village in the province of Limburg, in the Kempen region of northeastern Belgium. It forms part of the municipality of Houthalen-Helchteren. The area is known for its pine forests, heathland and nature reserves, which makes it a calm setting compared with the airport and the capital region. Visitors tend to come for walking and cycling, to see family, or for business in the wider Limburg area. Give your driver the full street address on the booking so the final stretch through the local roads goes smoothly.
