Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Hasselt

The drive from Zaventem to Hasselt

The route covers 78 km (49 miles) and typically takes about 53 minutes. It is an occasionally booked transfer, so a private car is a practical way to avoid planning around train changes. Traffic around Brussels and Leuven can slow things down at rush hour, so add some buffer if you have a tight appointment or a connecting plan in Hasselt.

Choosing the right vehicle

For solo travellers, couples and small families, a private taxi is available for 1-3 or 1-4 passengers, which helps when you have several suitcases. Larger groups can choose a private minibus with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats. The bigger sizes suit conference delegates, school trips, sports teams and wedding parties travelling together. Pick the size by passenger count and luggage, not only by seats.

Meeting point at Brussels Airport

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House with a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find after you have collected your luggage.

Hasselt as a destination

Hasselt is the capital of the Belgian province of Limburg and a compact city with a lively centre. It is known for its shopping streets, its jenever tradition and the Japanese Garden. Visitors often come for business, events or a weekend stay, and the historic centre is easy to explore on foot.

Arriving in the centre

Hasselt's inner city has many pedestrian streets, so give your driver the exact street name or the hotel name. Your driver can then stop as close as local access rules allow. If you are heading to a meeting or event, allow a few extra minutes for the final stretch on foot.
