Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Haarlem

The drive from Brussels Airport to Haarlem

The route covers 215 km (134 miles) and typically takes 2 h 21 m, crossing the Belgian-Dutch border and continuing north through the Netherlands. This is a less frequently booked route, but it is available on request like any other. Traffic around Brussels and the Dutch Randstad can be heavy at morning and evening rush hours, so allow some extra time if you have a fixed appointment, a check-in slot or a dinner reservation in Haarlem.

Choosing the right vehicle

For couples, solo travellers and small families, a private taxi for 1-3 or 1-4 passengers is the simplest option. Larger parties can choose a private minibus with 8 or 16 seats. Tour groups, school trips and event delegations can book minibuses with 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats, so everyone arrives together. Count your luggage as well as your passengers, especially on a trip of this length.

Haarlem and where to stay

Haarlem is the capital of the province of North Holland. It is known for its historic centre around the Grote Markt, the St. Bavo Church and the Frans Hals Museum. Amsterdam and the North Sea coast at Zandvoort are both close by, which makes the city a calm base for exploring the region.

Well-known places to stay in Haarlem include:

• Hotel Lion d'Or
• Amadeus Hotel, near the Grote Markt
• Van der Valk Hotel Haarlem

Give your driver the full hotel address when you book, as parts of the old centre have restricted car access.

Meeting point

Your driver waits for you at Java Coffee House at Brussels Zaventem Airport, holding a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find after you have collected your luggage, so you can go straight there once you leave the baggage hall.
