Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Groot-Gelmen

The drive from Brussels Airport to Groot-Gelmen

The route covers 76 km (47 miles) and normally takes around 55 minutes. That is a comfortable ride after a flight, and it saves you from planning a journey with several connections to a small village. Groot-Gelmen is a less frequently booked destination, but the transfer is available on request like any other. Weekday rush hours around Brussels and Leuven can slow the first part of the trip, so it is worth allowing some extra time if you have an appointment or event shortly after arrival.

Choosing the right vehicle

Smaller parties are well served by a private taxi, with one option for up to 3 passengers and another for up to 4. If you are travelling with a family and several suitcases, the larger of the two gives more breathing room. For bigger groups there are private minibuses with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats. These suit wedding parties, sports teams, company outings and school or club trips. Pick the size that matches your group and luggage, not just the headcount, so everyone travels comfortably.

About Groot-Gelmen

Groot-Gelmen is a small village in the province of Limburg and belongs to the municipality of Sint-Truiden. The surrounding Haspengouw (Hesbaye) countryside is known for its orchards and gently rolling farmland, and it is especially scenic in the spring blossom season. It is a quiet rural setting, so a door-to-door private transfer is often the simplest way to arrive, particularly with luggage or a larger group.

Meeting Point

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House inside Brussels Airport, holding a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find once you have collected your luggage, so you can meet your driver without any searching around the terminal.
