Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Écaussinnes

The drive from Brussels Airport to Écaussinnes

Écaussinnes lies 61 km (38 miles) from Brussels Zaventem Airport, and the drive usually takes around 47 minutes. The route heads south-west across Brabant into Hainaut, mostly on motorway before finishing on regional roads. This is a less frequently booked route, but it is available on request just like any other. Morning and late-afternoon rush hours around the Brussels ring can add time, so allow a margin if you have a train, an appointment or an event to reach. Roadworks and bad weather can also slow the final stretch.

Choosing the right vehicle

For solo travellers, couples and small families, a private taxi is the simplest option. It is available for 1-3 or 1-4 passengers, so pick the larger one if you are travelling with four people and a fair amount of luggage.

Larger parties can choose from private minibuses:

• 8 seats for extended families or small groups with suitcases
• 16 and 24 seats for wedding parties, sports teams or company delegations
• 32, 40 and 48 seats for large groups travelling together, such as tour parties or event guests

Count your luggage as well as your passengers when choosing, as a full group with big bags needs more room than the seat count suggests.

About Écaussinnes

Écaussinnes is a small municipality in the Walloon province of Hainaut. It is best known for its local bluestone (petit granit) quarrying tradition and for the medieval Château fort d'Écaussinnes-Lalaing, which draws visitors to the area. The surroundings are rural and quiet, with villages and farmland, so it is a calm contrast to the airport. If you have an exact address, share it when booking, as some village streets are narrow and hard to find.

Meeting Point

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House in Brussels Zaventem Airport, holding a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find once you have collected your luggage and walked through to the arrivals area.
