Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Duisburg

The drive from Brussels Airport to Duisburg

The trip covers 215 km (134 miles) and typically takes 2 h 17 m by road. It crosses the border into Germany and ends in the western Ruhr area. Duisburg is a less frequently booked route, but it is available on request like any other. Allow extra time during weekday rush hours, around busy motorway junctions near large cities, and in bad weather. If you have a business meeting or a connecting train, plan a comfortable buffer rather than counting on the minimum driving time.

Choosing the right vehicle

For solo travellers, couples and small families, a private taxi is the simple choice: one option seats 1-3 passengers and another seats 1-4. Larger parties can book a private minibus with 8, 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats. This suits business delegations, trade fair visitors, sports teams and tour groups, who can all travel together with their luggage in a single vehicle. Pick the vehicle by passenger count and by how much luggage you carry. If you are close to a size limit, go one size up.

Duisburg and where to stay

Duisburg sits where the Rhine meets the Ruhr and is known for its huge inland port, one of the largest in the world. Its steel and industrial heritage still shapes the city. Today that heritage appears in sights such as the Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord, a former ironworks turned public park. The city also lies close to Düsseldorf and Essen, which makes it a practical base for business trips in the region.

Well-known places to stay in Duisburg include:

• Steigenberger Duisburger Hof, a long-established hotel in the city centre
• Mercure Hotel Duisburg City, a central option near the main railway station
