Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Châtelet

The drive from Brussels Airport to Châtelet

Châtelet lies 78 km (49 miles) from Brussels Zaventem Airport, and the journey usually takes about 55 minutes. The route heads south from Zaventem through the Brussels region and on into Wallonia. This is a less frequently booked route, but it is available on request like any other. Traffic around the Brussels ring is the main variable. Morning and late-afternoon rush hours can add noticeable time, so allow a buffer if you have a fixed appointment, a train connection or a event to reach on arrival.

Choosing the right vehicle

For solo travellers, couples and small families, a private taxi is the simplest option. It is available for 1-3 passengers or for 1-4 passengers, so choose the larger one if you are travelling with four people and want a little more room for luggage.

Larger parties can book a private minibus. The 8-seat minibus suits extended families or small business groups. For bigger groups there are 16, 24, 32, 40 and 48-seat minibuses, which keep everyone together in one vehicle, for example for a wedding party, a school trip or a company delegation.

About Châtelet

Châtelet is a town in the province of Hainaut in Wallonia, set on the River Sambre close to Charleroi. It is a largely residential and local-services town rather than a major tourist destination. Most visitors come to see family, to work in the Charleroi area or to attend local events. If you are heading to a private address, have the full street name and house number ready so the driver can plan the final part of the route.

Meeting Point

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House with a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find once you have collected your luggage and walked into the arrivals area.
