Brussels Zaventem Airport (BRU) to Bierbeek

The drive from Zaventem to Bierbeek

Bierbeek lies 29 km (18 miles) from Brussels Zaventem Airport, and the drive usually takes about 24 minutes. The route heads east out of the Brussels area towards Leuven, so the busiest stretches are near the airport and the ring road. Allow extra time on weekday mornings and late afternoons, when commuter traffic builds up. Bierbeek is an occasionally booked route, and a private transfer saves you from planning a multi-leg journey with luggage.

Meeting Point

Your driver waits at Java Coffee House with a personalised name sign. The spot is easy to find after you have collected your luggage, so you can go straight there without searching the arrivals hall.

Choosing the right vehicle

For couples, solo travellers and small families, a private taxi is available for 1-3 or 1-4 passengers; pick the larger one if you carry several suitcases. Groups of up to 8 travel in a private minibus with 8 seats. For larger parties such as wedding guests, company teams or club trips, minibuses with 16, 24, 32, 40 or 48 seats are available. Choose the size by passenger count and luggage, not passenger count alone.

Bierbeek as a destination

Bierbeek is a small municipality in Flemish Brabant, in the countryside just east of Leuven. It is mainly residential and rural, with farmland and quiet village roads. Visitors usually come to see family, attend local events or stay somewhere calmer than central Brussels. Please give your driver the full street address, as many roads in the area are narrow and village names can be similar.

Where to stay near Bierbeek

Bierbeek itself has limited accommodation, so most visitors stay in neighbouring Leuven, a short drive away. Well-known options there include:

• Martin's Klooster, a hotel set in a converted historic building
• Leuven Marriott Hotel, close to the city centre
• Ibis Leuven Centrum, a practical option near the station

If you stay in Leuven, the transfer is shorter than the Bierbeek time given above, but the same booking process applies.
