The route covers 20 km (13 miles) and usually takes around 20 minutes by road. You travel from the airport on the eastern side of Brussels to the western side of the city. Morning and late-afternoon rush hours can slow the approach to the capital, so it is sensible to allow some extra time if you have a fixed appointment or a connection to catch. Berchem-Sainte-Agathe (Sint-Agatha-Berchem in Dutch) is one of the nineteen municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region. It lies in the north-west of the region and is mainly residential and quiet, with a local rather than touristic character. It makes a calm base for visiting family or friends, or for reaching the city centre without staying in the busiest districts.

Berchem-Sainte-Agathe is mostly residential, so I cannot name well-known long-established hotels there with confidence. The nearest well-known options are in central Brussels, a short ride away. These include Hotel Metropole, a grand historic hotel on Place de Brouckère, Hotel Amigo, close to the Grand-Place, and Hotel Le Plaza Brussels, near the city's northern boulevards. Tell the driver the exact address in advance if your accommodation is elsewhere.
