About Anzin

Anzin is a town in the Nord department of northern France. It lies right next to Valenciennes and forms part of the same urban area, close to the River Scheldt (Escaut). The town is historically linked to the coal-mining region of the north, and the Anzin mining company was one of the best-known names in French mining history. Today it is mostly a residential and working town, and Valenciennes is close by for shops, restaurants and the railway station.
