best vegan restaurants in brussels belgium

Good news for all foodies who opted for a more responsible way of life. Brussels has some of the best vegan hotspots to offer, and here we have hand-picked the top five places where you can feast on healthy vegan dishes. After a long day of wandering around the top landmarks in Brussels, go for a healthy lunch at one of these places, all reachable via any taxi company.

Greenway

Located at Victor Hortaplein 24, just get off at Brussels Midi train station instead of Brussels Central station and you’ll reach Greenway in no time. If you like trying something fresh and new, this vegan restaurant in Brussels is a must see stop on your healthy tour through the city. The chain of restaurants has already been around for over 20 years, with restaurants in Ghent, Antwerp and Louvain. Unlike its other locations, the Brussels restaurant is pretty small, but way cozier and more charming in comparison. Look at Greenway as vegetarian fast-food heaven - piles of junk-food, but without the guild of eating afterwards. We highly recommend the vegan kebab and the falafel wrap. Or even the tasty fresh salad or a delicious bowl of soup. If you're visiting in the morning, Greenway is also the perfect spot for a healthy breakfast.

Moonfood

If you immediately get off at Brussels Central station, head over to Koloniënstraat 58 and you’ll arrive at the vegan hotspot Moonfood in a short stroll. Since the restaurant is located fairly close to the political and economic center of Brussels, it's always packed with suits around lunchtime. Don't let this scare you, since the food here is extremely delicious and affordable as well. The buffet consist off 100% vegan, raw, gluten-free food, with a daily changing menu. Choose a bit of everything and head to the register, where items are weighed in, costing around 2,70 euro for every 100 grams.
Moonfood’s food concept is that their food is cooked below 46 degrees Celcius, so it maintains even more vitamins. Additionally, their menu is composed by Annie Padden Jubb, a food coach for countless celebrities, like Leonardo DiCaprio for example. This is a darn good reason to go ahead and pop inside.

Den Teepot

Sitting at Karthuizerstraat 66, located near the popular Sint-Katelijne area, in this side street of the Dansaertstraat you can find a bright yellow house sheltering a little bio-shop. At noon, from 12 AM to 2 PM, you can buy your healthy snacks here, and enjoy a nice lunch as well. Walk up the stairs and make yourself at home, because the shop has the coziest house feel. And the decorative gigantic mural, resembles of those seen at typical Italian or Greek restaurants.

The food here definitely pairs well to the cozy and laid back atmosphere too. Each bite on your plate is organic and healthy, from the crispy veggies to the wheat germs. This is exactly what Den Teepot is aiming to achieve. Garnishing typical dishes with just that little bit of extra vitality, making the visit to this venue a worth-while. So be bold and deviate from your usual shopping route to enjoy a healthy lunch at Den Teepot.

Ami

Brussels has so much more to offer than just the city center. So take a short bus ride for a visit to Lesbroussartstraat 13, a habitat of most Brussels students. One of the most famous hotspots here is the vegetarian and vegan restaurant Ami, neatly put at the Flagey Square. During the cold months, here you can enjoy the most delicious cups of soup and during the hot summer nights, the visitors can hang out on the small patio outside.

This restaurant radiates with pure Scandinavian vibe, drawing out all the hipster students, while the menu has options even for the most precious customers. The veggie and happy food, as described on the sign outside, contains mainly of burgers and sandwiches. Even though the vegan options here are a little more limited, compared to the vegetarians dishes anyway, if you are a vegan just go ahead and ask for a vegetarian order and ask for a no cheese sandwich, with lots of veganaise instead of the normal sauce assortment.

Dolma

The Dolma Restaurant at Elsensesteenweg 329 is a rock solid establishment in Flagey for over 40 years, so it got a full and well-deserved makeover recently. This transformation to a complete vegetarian and vegan hot spot evolved over the years and today Dolma is run by an entirely new owner, who manages the kitchen himself.

If you pop inside during the day, you can browse through a fresh buffet that looks amazing and that doesn't contain any eggs. Just take your plate for a culinary journey through Italian, Mexican, Asian, Nepalese and Spanish cuisine. Everything here is purely organic, from the carefully selected wines to the corn in the wild rice. And if you wish to feast on a huge portion at home on your couch, you can always order a take away service. And for all of those who are feeling a little more adventurous, go ahead and purchase all the necessary ingredients in the nearby shop and let the culinary games begin.

Eating healthy on the road does not necessarily imply an obstacle in your daily adventures.
